Introduction to Computers: Using Microsoft Office: This course is a comprehensive overview that combines lecture and hands on experience. Students become familiar with the technology and jargon of personal computers. Software applications, such as word processing and database, will be demonstrated as well as use of the Internet.
Fee: $50.00

Introduction to Windows: This beginner course will include topics such as an overview of Windows, working with the Desktop, Taskbar, Help menu, managing files and more. Prerequisite: Intro to Computers.

Word Processing: Using Microsoft Access: This course introduces the concepts of word processing Topics include creating, editing, saving, retrieving, and printing documents as well as font styles, sizes margins, tabs and Spell Check. Recommended Prerequisite: Intro to Computers and Windows 95/98/2000/XP experience.
Fee: $75.00

Database: Using Microsoft Excel: This course will teach database concepts and terminology such as how to create and design layouts, sort or group lists of addresses, household inventories, collectibles, recipes, etc. Recommended Prerequisite: Intro to computers and Windows 95/98/2000/XP experience.

Spreadsheet: Using Microsoft Office: This course will provide the skills to create worksheets, manipulate worksheet data, use formulas and functions, and create charts and graphs. Skills developed will be transferable to most other spreadsheet programs. Recommended Prerequisite: Intro to Computers and Windows 95/98/2000/XP experience.

The Internet: For new and experienced Internet users, this course includes skills related to accessing and searching the Net, use of e-mail, participation in News Groups, accessing Bulletin Boards, transferring files to and from your system and more. Other topics include security, viruses and other on-line issues.
Recommended Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers and Windows 95/98/2000/XP experience.

Create a Personal Web Page: Have fun creating your own personal web page on the Web! It is easy and does not cost anything. Learn how to design a web site, edit photos, and place them on your web page; use graphics to enhance appearance and more.
Fee: $250.00

Keyboarding: Provides a mastery of the keyboard and correct stroking techniques by means of the touch method and word processing package using a computer. Practical examples include simple tabulations, letters, memoranda, and short reports.
Fee: $75.00

Computer Applications: Builds upon skills acquired in Keyboarding Class. Production problems of increasing complexity will be assigned, and students will be expected to work independently in solving them using Microsoft Word. Exercises will ingrate the various Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Access). Independent practice to increase keyboarding speed will be provided using computerized timed writings.
Prerequisite: Keyboarding.

Conversational Spanish: This course teaches fundamentals of language through conversation. Emphasis is on speaking and building vocabulary, while reinforcing the basic principles of grammar through conversation. The cultures of Spanish speaking countries are also studied.

ESOL Pronunciation: Intensive practice in the oral control of American English emphasizing both pronunciation and listening skills.
Fee: $75.00

E.S.O.L. Advanced: This course is for the E.S.O.L. students who have a high level of fluency in English. Advanced E.S.O.L. grammar will be taught. Topics include: idioms and vocabulary building, reading and understanding written English and interpretation of literature and newspaper articles. Pre-employment skills and resume writing are integrated into the life skills component.

Although we endorse their ability as instructors, we make no comment as to their professional skills or abilities or the value of any product or service they sell.

Nursing Assistant: This program is designed to train students as Certified Nursing Assistants. It includes classroom hours and practical on-the-job training. Trainees receive 50 hours of classroom instruction and training and 50 hours of on-site/clinical exposure. Trainees are placed in collaborating health care agencies in the greater New Haven area where they complete the clinical portion of their training under the joint supervision of nursing staff and 4 classroom teachers. After receiving a Certificate of Completion, student will take their State license exam. Day and Evening classes are offerred throughout the year. Please call 203 492-0220 for more information.
